Penelope's Photo Explorations

For my genius hour project, I decided to make a joint photography project with Maya. We have gone around Chicago and taken photos of different things in the city. We are collecting all these photos and we are going to put them together in a presentation. We are working on our photography skills and learning to use photoshop as well. At this point, we have gone around the neighborhood and taken photos of the local culture.

Adventures in Writing With Vivian

For my genius hour project, I decided to write a story. I decided to do this because I have a strong passion for creative writing, but don't usually have the time to finish them. In Language Arts, I usually have a set genre that I have to follow when I write. Here, I can choose my genre, which I appreciate. I chose the fiction genre because nonfiction writing is not my cup of tea. More specifically, I am doing the fantasy genre, due to my love of making things unrealistic.
I got inspiration for my story from classic fairy tales like Alice in Wonderland and modern stories like Cinder and the Percy Jackson series. My story involves an audacious main character, a secret tunnel, and a big, big, problem. Read my story to find out more!

Roundix Cube

Hi fellow bloggers, My name is Max and I am attempting to create a new and cool invention. My friend Sam and I are going to create a Roundix Cube. You might be asking yourself, 'What is a Roundix Cube?' A Roundix cube is the Rubik's Cube of the the future. A Roundix Cube consists of a spherical Rubik's Cube in the middle. Bordering the spherical Rubik's cube is another cube with the middle of it cut out. Technically, the middle isn't cut out, but only the borders or sides of it are left around the spherical Rubik's cube. The cubes will move swiftly and it will be just like a Rubik's cube with a different shape. It has the same objective as a regular Rubik's cube, to match the colors of the sphere with the same color border. This will truly be the Rubik's cube of the future.

My Genius Hour Project

For my genius hour project I decided to do a dance. Not just one dance, but sort of like a ballet. It's not a ballet because personally I don't like ballet. It's telling a story with the words in the songs and with the dance. It's going to be like the Disney princesses and other famous fairy tale characters in the modern day world. I did this because I really liked the idea of the characters with cell phones and shopping, and from reading the book Cinder, it gave me more ideas for it. I did this project because I really like dance, and even though. I may not go anywhere with it, I have at least something that I accomplished with it. So far, I've only made about half a dance, because I need to write it down and remember it, then going back and doing it again, and it's hard! Anyway, I need to get back to doing my dances! Thanks for reading this!

Explorations in Photography by Maya

For my genius hour project, I chose to do a joint photography project with Penelope. Our idea is to take photos of special things in Chicago, as well as improve our photography skills. We will learn to photoshop as well, and create a presentation of our favorite photos. So far, we have gone on walks around the neighborhood twice, and taken lots of pictures. We took some of the ones that we liked the most, and started toying around with them in photoshop. These are our completed pictures so far.

New Ideas are Cool

What's up fellow bloggers. My name is Sam, and I am in the process of creating a new invention. My friend Max and I are attempting to make a Roundix Cube. You might be asking yourself, What is a Roundix Cube? Basically it is a Rubik's cube with a sphere inside of it. When it is finished, you will be able to solve it similar to how you solve a Rubik's Cube: by lining up all the colored squares. The sphere inside the cube will be rotating with the cube. We chose to make this invention because we like to build and design new and creative things that aren't just used for practical things such as school, but also for games and puzzles.
